Terms of service

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of:
- the Block website and webshop (the “Site”),
- the Block mobile application (the “App”),
- the Block physical device that blocks apps on your smartphone (the “Device”),
- all related products, content, and services we provide (together, the “Services”).
The Services are provided by Block Group B.V., a company registered in the Netherlands (“Block”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
By purchasing a Device, downloading or using the App, or accessing the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use of the Services immediately.
1. Eligibility & Use of the Services
To use the Services, you must:
- be at least 18 years old (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction),
- use the Services only for lawful purposes,
- not interfere with or misuse the Device, App, or Site.
Parents or legal guardians who allow minors to use the Services remain fully responsible for the minor’s actions.
You may not use the Services to:
- bypass digital rights management,
- engage in harmful or unauthorized activities,
- disable or manipulate system-level features on your device beyond what is permitted by Apple, Google, or your OS provider.
2. Your Block Device
2.1 Functionality
Block is designed to reduce distractions by restricting access to apps on your smartphone using:
- NFC triggers that activate blocking profiles,
- native operating system APIs (e.g., Apple Screen Time API), and
- user-configured settings.
The Device does not collect or transmit your personal data during NFC interactions.
2.2 Product Appearance
The appearance, color, and finish of the Device may vary slightly from how it is displayed on your screen, depending on your device type, display settings, and lighting conditions.
2.3 Safety & Compliance
By using the Device, you acknowledge that:
- Block is not responsible for any consequences arising from blocked calls, messages, notifications, or app access,
- you remain fully responsible for ensuring that blocking features do not interfere with health, safety, work, or emergency requirements.
You may not open, modify, tamper with, resell, lease, or use the Device for commercial purposes without prior written consent from Block.
3. Ordering, Pricing & Payments
3.1 Purchasing Through the Site
When you place an order through our Site, you confirm that:
- all information provided is accurate and complete,
- you are authorized to use the chosen payment method,
- the order is for personal use unless otherwise stated.
Placing an order constitutes an offer to purchase. Block reserves the right to accept or reject any order at its sole discretion, including in cases of pricing errors, suspected fraud, or product availability issues. An order is only accepted once we have confirmed it and received payment.
3.2 Pricing
Prices may change at any time before you place an order. Prices include VAT unless stated otherwise.
We may offer promotions, discounts, or special offers from time to time. Such promotions may be subject to additional terms and conditions. In the event of a conflict between promotional terms and these Terms, the promotional terms shall prevail.
3.3 Payment Processing
Payments are handled by third-party providers (e.g., Mollie, Stripe, Shopify Payments). We do not store full credit card numbers.
3.4 Errors, Inaccuracies & Cancellations
We reserve the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in the Services, including pricing, descriptions, promotions, and availability, and to cancel or refuse orders if information is inaccurate, at any time and without prior notice (including after an order has been submitted).
4. Shipping & Delivery
4.1 Shipping
We ship to the destinations listed on our Site. Delivery times are estimates and cannot be guaranteed.
4.2 Risk & Ownership
Ownership passes to you once the Device is delivered to your address. Risk of loss passes upon delivery.
5. Returns, Refunds & Cooling-Off Period
If you are located in the EU/EEA or UK, you have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period beginning when you receive your Device.
You may return the Device for a refund provided it is:
- in original condition,
- returned with all accessories and packaging,
- shipped according to our return instructions.
You are responsible for return shipping fees unless required otherwise by law.
Digital services (e.g., premium app features) may lose the right of withdrawal if you request immediate activation and acknowledge that this affects your rights.

6. Using the App
6.1 License
You receive a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the App solely for personal, non-commercial purposes.
6.2 App Updates
We may release updates, fixes, or improvements. Some updates may be required for the App to function correctly. We are not obligated to maintain older versions once updates are available.
6.3 System Permissions
The App may require device permissions such as:
- NFC access
- Screen Time or Digital Wellbeing APIs
- Notification control (OS-dependent)
You may disable permissions, but doing so may limit functionality.
6.4 Device & Configuration Changes
Removing the App, resetting your device, changing operating systems, or modifying system-level permissions may affect or disable certain blocking features. Block is not responsible for data loss or configuration changes resulting from such actions.
6.5 Account & Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any account credentials associated with the App. You remain fully responsible for all activities that occur under your account, whether authorized by you or not.
6.6 Paid Features & Subscriptions
Certain features of the App may be offered on a paid or subscription basis in the future. Any applicable fees, billing terms, renewal conditions, and cancellation rights will be clearly disclosed prior to purchase.
7. Third-Party Services & APIs
Block relies on third-party platforms, including but not limited to:
- Apple’s Screen Time API
- Shopify For eCommerce
- Payment processors and hosting partners
We are not responsible for downtime, changes, or limitations introduced by these external services. Your use of these third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Intellectual Property
All trademarks, logos, content, Device designs, App features, and Site materials are the property of Block B.V. or its licensors. You may not:
- copy, reproduce, or modify any part of the Services,
- attempt to reverse-engineer the Device or App,
- create derivative works based on our intellectual property,
- remove or obscure trademarks or copyright notices.
9. Content You Provide
If you submit reviews, feedback, ideas, or suggestions (“User Content”), you grant Block a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and publish such content for any purpose.
You confirm that:
- your submissions do not violate any third-party rights,
- you are solely responsible for the content you create.
10. Availability & Service Changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time, including:
- the Site,
- the App,
- the Device’s digital functionality,
- future features or integrations.
We are not liable for delays, interruptions, or discontinued features.
11. Prohibited Activities
You may not use the Services to:
- disable safety or compliance mechanisms in mobile operating systems,
- attempt to misuse NFC triggers,
- interfere with network integrity,
- scrape, crawl, or automate interactions with the Site or App,
- circumvent access controls or copy protection.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations.
12. Disclaimers
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including:
- uninterrupted access,
- compatibility with all devices,
- availability of all features indefinitely.
Block does not guarantee that:
- app blocking will work on all devices or OS versions,
- the Device will prevent distraction or improve productivity,
- results will meet your expectations.
You assume all risks related to use of the Device, App and Site.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Block is not liable for:
- indirect, incidental, or consequential damages,
- loss of data, loss of productivity, or missed notifications,
- damages related to reliance on the App’s blocking functions,
- interruptions in connectivity, updates, or third-party API availability.
If we are found liable, our liability is limited to the total amount you paid for the Device giving rise to the claim.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Block harmless from claims, damages, or losses arising from:
- your misuse of the Services,
- your violation of these Terms,
- user content you submit.
15. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time if:
- you breach these Terms,
- your actions create risk or legal exposure,
- required by law or a third-party platform provider.
You may stop using the Services at any time.
16. Force Majeure
Block shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance resulting from events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to pandemics, labor disputes, supply chain disruptions, governmental actions, power failures, or changes imposed by operating system providers or third-party platforms.
17. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes shall be submitted exclusively to the competent court in Amsterdam, unless mandatory consumer law states otherwise.
17.1 Assignment
Block may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, without restriction or notice to you, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, corporate restructuring, or sale of assets.
